Global Agents For Change

Bikes on the Drive has supported Global Agents for Change (GAFC) since 2007. Every year GAFC organises a ride for twenty riders from Vancouver to Mexico, which spans almost two months. In 2009 they added a second ride, from Amsterdam to Istanbul, in which the riders were fully self supported. We help the riders get the right gear, the right bikes, and the right set up to be comfortable, letting the Agents focus on their fund raising.
Learn more about GAFC on their blog.

GAFC raises money for microcredit, a form of lending to people in developing countries. These loans give the recipients, who are mainly women, the opportunity to start a small business and support their families and communities. It is not charity. The amount they are lent is small, usually under $100 US, and is repaid with interest. The original amount and interest is then lent out again to other candidates.

In 2009, Bikes on the Drive sponsored our employee, Shani Danzig, on her trip with GAFC from Amsterdam to Istanbul. Read about her ride here: shanirides.blogspot.com
